Never, Never, Never Give up

Winston Churchill said, "Never, Never, Never give up". Many of you know that Erick applied two times to dental school, had many interviews, was on several waiting lists, but did not get accepted. Then in January of this year, he decided to explore optometry. He applied, got an interview, and again was put on the waiting list, but again was denied acceptance. Through all these disappointing, frustrating, and faith testing years, Erick has continued to preserve! This last August opened a new application cycle for optometry school and Erick decided to apply again. He had an early interview, and found out on Monday that he IS accepted!! He got into Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. He'll start next August. I am so happy for Erick and so proud of him for continuing to follow his dreams despite the head wind that seems to have been in his path the entire way.

Some of you may not know this, and I hope Erick won't be upset for me posting this, but Erick did not go to high school and didn't receive his GED until after his mission. When he came home he started the battle of college with an eye looking forward to professional school. And now, he did it!! After all his work and efforts, he is finally admitted into school! He's such an example to me of continuing forward despite discouragement!

I must also add, that through these years of applying, waiting, and disappointment, we have been tremendously blessed. The Lord has shaped our paths in ways that Erick and I would have never dreamed of. He has directed us to people and places that have truly blessed us. I know that even when things may not be going exactly according to our plans, that the Lord is simply making so much more of us than even our grandest plans could! Our faith has been stretched and strengthened, we have grown closer together as a couple. We have truly been given the greatest gifts from God along the way. I am so thankful for a good husband that keeps on keeping on, and for the Lord on whom we rely for all of our blessings.
