President Uchtdorf said to create something....

At general Relief Society meeting, which I thought was incredible, President Uchtdorf encouraged R.S. sisters to be creative and to create things. He said you could start with something small like a smile, or make a space beautiful. Well, I've taken his charge to heart! I've been busy creating all sorts of things. I started a cake class a few weeks ago and I love it! The improvement from my first cake to the one I made at class this week was great! We got a little anxious to eat it and I forgot to take any pictures, but I'll take some of my cake next week. We've been making good friends with our new neighbors by sharing my cakes with them--the Elders haven't complained either!

I also made Everett the cutest little Halloween costume yesterday! I'm so proud of it. But, it will have to be a surprise until Halloween. So be looking for future pics of the coolest costume yet! (Okay, so it probably isn't THE coolest costume yet, but it's in the top 5 for sure!)

Another little creating I've been working on for sometime is the art of bread making. During the summer Erick and I got a wheat grinder, and I decided I wanted to learn to make delicious whole wheat bread. Well, for those of you who have made whole wheat bread before, you know it can be quite the challenge to get a fluffy loaf and not a brick. So I've been experimenting with different recipes, (and I've made PLENTY of brick loaves) and I finally found one that I love!! It's from Sister Hinckley's book, 'Small and Simple Things'. It turns out great every time! I'm so impressed and excited to finally make edible whole wheat bread!

Okay, I've been stalling, the creation that I am most excited about, although probably by the time I finish I won't be saying that, is this:

Pretty ugly huh? We got it on craigslist for 5 bucks! Originally, I thought I would just clean it up a bit and sew a cover for it. But, as I got cleaning I got so grossed out that I decided even with a cover on it, this couch was disgusting! I've also really been wanting to do a true re-upholstery job. I did a glider chair and ottoman this last summer, but that didn't really count if you ask me. So, I decided, hey for 5 bucks, I can do my first learning curve of re-upholstery. I took the plunge and began taking the couch apart. I had no idea how long that would take, and this is a small little loves seat! My hands got pretty sore from the pliers, hammer, and screwdriver, but I finally accomplished step number one!

Holy moley Jenn, you show that couch who's boss! I can't wait to see it when it's done. And now you've got me wanting to make bread. I'm gonna have to google that recipe.

I LOVED that talk by Elder Uchtdorf, too. Looks like you have delved into some fun projects! Good luck with all of them.

That is so awesome! You are such a go getter; you inspire me with all your energy and enthusiasm. Aren't pregnant women supposed to be tired and lazy?
